I had the same thing happen to me except it was a dog and not a cat. I had the mattress top cleaned professionally and then I bought a mattress protector from http://www.waterproofmattressprotector.net and now I don’t have to worry about it.

Have it professionally cleaned. Not only can they clean it but they should be able to sanitize it as well. Carpet cleaning companies usually offer such service. http://www.stlbeds.com/

The best way to clean cat pee is with baking soda. Rather that covering up the smell, or simply washing it away, the Sodium Bicarbonate bonds with the uric acid. It is best if applied dry–in fact, Arm and Hammer now packages what the call “Pet Fresh” baking soda that is grainier than the sort you use for cooking, and comes in a shaker box.
It will do the trick, and I use it, but I don’t care for the scent. You can also get unscented Arm and Hammer in a shaker, which works just as well.
Anyway, the way to do it is simply to shake the baking soda over the affected areas, let it sit for a while, then vacuum it up. That generally helps a lot.
You can also mix up a bucket of hot water and baking soda, get rags, sponges, and a wet/dry vacuum and use your imagination to clean anything that the pee may have soaked into.
Be aware that you’re walking a tightrope between saving and ruining–because water can do irreversible damage too. On the other hand, if you figure that cat pee ruined the piece anyway, you’ve got nothing to lose.
I also have a Bissell Little Green TurboBrush, which is a small version of the carpet “steam cleaner”, which sprays a cleaning solution, then brushes and vacuums up. I usually use baking soda and water, and it works on both carpeting and upholstery. If confronted with the situation, I’d probably use it on a mattress–

to neutralize the smell spray some white vinegar on the mattress and when it’s dry sprinkle some baking soda on it let it air out the whole day you can make your bed tonight , but now the cat has marked his/her spot so I wont be surprised if this would be where he/she will want to use as a toilet , so my advise to you is to keep that door shut and don’t let the cat on the bed , I love animals very much but not if they were to pee where I slept, make sure that the litter box is always clean my cat wont go in it if it smells .
If you can open the window even for 10 minutes to let fresh air come in that would help a lot and buy a can of Lysol to spray the mattress as well the rest you can wash .

Oxi Clean has always worked pretty well for me with 9 dogs. My sister (12 cats) told me about it. Dissolve one scoop in about a gallon of water and pour over the affected area. Then remove it with a carpet/upholstery cleaner or wet-dry vac. All of these tools can be rented at Home Depot, although if this is going to be an ongoing problem, I suggest that you seriously consider buying a carpet/upholstery cleaner.
